Air filter,scoop 2 Years ago Karma: 4
Greetings,

Question on the air scoop, actually 2 questions. On a cert cub, there is a hinged baffle with rubber seal, within the scoop, separating the air filter from the carb. Are we putting this , or some other type of baffle, in these air scoops? I watched the video, but maybe missed it or didn't get that far.
Second question. Are we leaving the rear of the airscoop open or sealing it off to the bottom cowl? This is on an O360 180hp install.

Thanks,
Jay

Jay,

What did you end up doing on the first question? As to the second question you need to seal the off the air scoop inlet so the air does not destroy the low pressure on the bottem side of the cowel. If you don't you may have heat issues due to lack of airflow going through the cylinders and the oil cooler.

Brian,
Working on it now, and have not done anything inside the air scoop as far as that baffle. Need to know how to handle that deal.

Roger on the sealing off the scoop, will do.

Watched that SQ in Iowa fly today. Steve's smile was bigger than mine. My plane ain't done yet!!

Now I know why I had the question. Went back and watched video again, and the video is screwed up. It just gets to the part where John G picks up the scoop and starts to talk about it, and the video starts over. No scoop information, *&%^$@$%$^.
